I love the addition of Paganini(?) to this scene. "The Devil's Violinist" indeed!
Ewa 💙💙💙
Brilliant
What an odd arrangement. Its like a power ballad accompanied by a Rachmaninoff etude.
This helped hella with my Salome essay, thank you!
who is the soprano

exhilarating
I saw Frank sing Calaf at the Met in 2009. It was superb!
one of those worst wobbles
Hello @SanDiegoOpera. I'm a big fan of Susan Neves. I would like to convey my admiration to her, but I can't find her contacts in any way. Maybe you can help me? Can you tell me, at least her e-mail? Thank you in advance!
Bravo! Ha cantato com’è scritto!!
Who sang the Gilda?
Excellent diction!
What a tenor! Not just a great voice but a real intelligence at work. I hope he is doing well - I haven't heard him in anything new in 5 years
Really enjoying your presentation. Great job!
Good interview.
Bravo Joshua! Que maravillosa voz y intérprete.
Bravo Piotr Beczala ❤❤❤
Bravo, Snow White. Sorry, didn’t watch it before. I am working. Your voice is much bigger and wider. Agreed with your mom. Beautiful!
What is the origin of the name Stasyna? Is this May be Polish or Chech? Just curious.
My favorite opera! ❤
Those low notes. Almost all Tenors don’t even sing that low on stage. Hell I can’t even reach the low Bb she sang most of the time. #notanoperasinger
Hi Nic. One thing that you haven't taken into account is the Italian inherent dramatiality of orchestral players. Why does Nabucco work so much better in Italy than anywhere else? It's because Verdi harnessed the 'town band' drama and incorporated it into his score. Rossini knew about this inherent musicality in his fellow countrymen from a very early age and specifically in opera. So whilst the examples you give are useful, they are FAR too polite. Especially in his Italian compositions, Rossini knew that piano should be pianissimo and that every player and singer loves to sing forte. If I wanted to get Rossinian flavour, I'd ask my orchestra to play Cujus Animam and THEN go back and play his earliest works. The tempests Rossini was famous for portraying didn't appear from nowhere!
Thanks
Si poteva mettere un'edizione con i più grandi calaf e turandot, Corelli e Nillson
She is a true legend.
Bellísimo timbre, pude apreciar su arte en el teatro Colón de Buenos Aires, ojalá vuelva 👏👏👏
I remember this like it was yesterday
Fascinating dramatic opus, fantastic orchestra, magnificent arias, mystic duets, interesting libretto, enigmatic choruses and the profound intensity in the final. 💚
Bravissimo tenore complimenti!
Hermosa voz!
So cool. I grew up with Scott, he use to sing like that in middle school but he was always just joking around with it. 25 years later he’s traveling the world singing. Really neat
Superb
Thanks for an excellent guide to this opera. Puccini's music is exquisite, but if ever there was a couple who did NOT deserve a happy ending it'sTurandot and Calif.
They deserved each other. They were selfish and cruel in the name of “love.” Day by day they will feed off each other. It’s a relationship that works-but will never fulfill the longings of the soul.
Saw this Sunday and felt so much love in the performances and the audience. The ovation at the end wasn't just the performances and the music, it was the celebration of all the lives you've touched. Thank you.
Your voice and artistry live on through this piece Nic! I'll be sad to miss the world premiere but oh my... what a mark you've made on this world! ❤
Love it❤❤
one of the two real verdian sopranos of our time , in my humble opinion. the other is Daniella dessi. it is amazing that krassimira is still active and singing Aida around the world.
Should have asked Eloise about her ill-fated affair with John Malkovich and how it has negatively impacted her life and the sexual harrassment that took place. A common problem for Malkovich.
Thank you for the information in this video
BRAVA! Thank you!
Thanks for taking the time to explain!
She’d probably excel at Verdi roles
Thanks
I hope I'm not the only person here on YT who saw her do LA Mamma Morta....she was world class! IMHO, she is right there with Maria Callas!
Ferruccio is pretty soft spoken for a bass singer…
Verdian line?
